The Blueprint framework is organised around 14 big ideas – long term understandings that will help students apply their knowledge and solve problems. By analysing the content in GCSE combined science, we expanded the big ideas into 110 key concepts. The concepts are organised into a coherent progression across within units.
We have created two versions – one for the standard 5 years, and one for 4 years because if you adopt the assessment and teaching principles of Blueprint, we have determined it is possible to teach all the concepts in 4 years, leaving the last year for revisiting the ideas, practical work and preparing for GCSE.
Note: you will be prompted to login or join the Beta Users group to download draft materials.
We would love to know what you think. Do you disagree with the concepts or their order? Please comment and we will reply.
